ADMISSION TO THE HOSPITAL

TIME OF ADMISSION

The time of admission to the hospital will be provided to you by telephone by a member of the Registration/Medical Secretariat staff. In most cases, information regarding the scheduled admission date is given on the day preceding the procedure (in the afternoon). At the indicated time, please report to Szpital na Klinach at the Registration Desk on the ground floor by the main entrance – admissions are carried out according to the scheduled timetable.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PREPARATION FOR SURGERY:

Last meal/fluids before the planned procedure:

  • up to 6 hours before the planned procedure – a light meal (in the case of morning admissions, please attend fasting)
  • up to 4 hours before – last fluids – clear, still liquids (not milk)
  • On the morning of the operation, the Patient should take their regular medication as prescribed by the doctor, with a small amount of water.
  • Anticoagulant medication – the Patient should follow the doctor’s pre-operative instructions.
  • Patients with diabetes – follow individual recommendations.
  • The Patient should bring their regular medication to the Hospital (in original packaging and in quantities appropriate for the planned length of stay).
  • Personal preparation: bath/shower and change of underwear on the day of surgery (remove make-up and jewellery).
  • Please bring: toiletries, two towels, pyjamas, slippers, regular medication.
  • It is recommended that valuables be left at home.
  • If a medical certificate (fit note) is required, please inform the attending consultant and provide your PESEL number, tax identification number (NIP), address, employer’s name, and employer’s tax identification number (NIP).
  • If you have any doubts, please contact us. If you are unable to attend the hospital (e.g. sudden illness), you must inform the Registration staff without delay.

PAYMENT FOR THE PROCEDURE

Payment for the procedure must be made no later than the day of the procedure at the main hospital Registration Desk. Payment may be made in cash or by debit/credit card. If the Patient has previously made payment by bank transfer, please provide confirmation of the transfer on the day of the procedure.

DISCHARGE FROM HOSPITAL

The date of discharge from the hospital is determined by the attending consultant, taking into account the Patient’s overall health condition.

On the day of discharge, the Patient receives two discharge summaries, the results of any tests provided to the hospital, and post-operative instructions, including dietary and rehabilitation recommendations. Follow-up appointment dates are also scheduled.

If you wish to receive a medical certificate (fit note), please inform the discharging doctor.

Upon discharge, the final settlement of the hospital stay is also carried out – including payment for any additional elements of hospital treatment or reimbursement of any overpayment. Payments may be made in cash or by debit/credit card.
